Original hand carved folk art wood sculpture with a Southern flair by Folk Artist Sande Elkins
This is the tale of the little, red haired girl and the wonderful, whimiscal world she created. When she was growing up, she was always dreaming dreams and scheming schemes, creating a wonderful world within her imagination where she could live. It was a world which was so much more vivid and alive than the one she saw around her. She grew up, married, studied art, worked, wandered, and tried to find her direction, her passion. One day her passion, quite unexpectedly, found her. She was at home and at loose ends. She picked up a knife and a scrap piece of wood just on a whim but when she touched the knife to the wood it was magic and she was suddenly transported back to the days when she had lived within her own imagination. She felt as if she'd come home. She began to create a world of whimsy that brought joy to all who had the eyes and heart to see it.
